Wow!  Hey guys!  I've been busy, how about that?!  I can't believe how much I've done this year already, and it's just barely getting to March!  Well, as you can see, I changed my layout again!  Now it showcases my newest costume: Utena Tenjou, manga-colors variation! I've added her profile to my Cosplay page, as well as a bunch of photos, including but not limited to the ones featured in my new banner.  I also recently attended KatsuCon in National Harbor, MD, where I judged for the World Cosplay Summit preliminaries! You can read all about that adventure in my KatsuCon Convention Report which is also linked on my Conventions page!  I also added a couple of new links on my Link Page, so go check them out!  If you'd like to do a link exchange, you can always email me -- SumikinsCosplay@gmail.com

Sadly, it doesn't look like I'll be making it to SakuraCon in Seattle this year -- a first since 2005! If I do, I will only be stopping by for half a day to see friends.  This year, I need to save money, and spend time with my family over Easter Weekend.

Next for-sure convention is FanimeCon in San Jose, CA! I have a lot of work to do for that!

This is a bit overdue, but with the new year, I figured it was about time to change the layout; I was getting kinda bored of the old one.  This time, I went for something a little more understated, opting for a monochrome black-and-white layout.  I don't know how long this one will last, but it's nice, for now.  ^_^

I'm back from my first convention of the year: Anime Los Angeles!  It was my first time attended this conventions, and as part of my New Years Resolutions, I've vowed to start writing Convention Reports!  In the future, I hope to have them archived on my site, but for now, you can check it out over on my tumblr!

☆ Anime Los Angeles 2012 ☆

In addition, I've added some new photos from the convention! New photos under school-form Mytho and school-form Homura, as well as a brand-new costume, Homura Akemi - Magical Girl Form!  Pictures are still being processed, so I'll be adding more later.  I've also added an additional photo from 2010 to my traveling-clothes Winry page.

With the year quickly drawing to a close, I figured it was time for the Annual Year-in-review and projected plans for 2012!   I spent several hours thinking back on everything I did this year, and compiled it along with videos of skits, and collages of all the costumes I wore this year, and posted it over on my Tumblr.  If you haven't seen it already and would like to check it out, just click the link below!

Sumikins' 2011 Year-in-Review + 2012 Plans!

If you have a Tumblr, I really suggest you follow my blog, if you want to see all the latest progress, musings, plans, etc!    Up next is Anime Lose Angeles in California, January 6th - 8th, and I'm making it a New Years Resolution to actually start writing Convention Reports!

KumoriCon 2011 has come and gone, and from this labor day weekend, I have 2 new costumes!  In less than 2 months I cranked out Mytho's School Uniform from Princess Tutu, as well as Homura Akemi from Puella Magi Madoka Magica!  I only have a few pictures of each, and they're not that great, but I hope to fix that in the future.  In addition, Kayla and I, about a week and a half before the convention, decided we wanted to do something for the cosplay contest, and we took home Best Master Skit!   I've posted the video of it under Performances, so go check it out! There's a lot of little things I wish I could have done better, but for the time constraint and having to adapt for stage size, I think we did alright.

Next up... Well, next up, I'm moving in the next couple months, and everything else hinges on that!

Just a few quick updates -- finally added some photos to Haru's page, so it's not just that strange Phantom Costume.  It does in fact exist!  Most of the photos were taken by Darkain, but there are also pics from my buddy Al (better known as EBK), and that I found around the web. Also, added a few new and not-so-new photos to the pages for Mytho and Yui.   I had some photos of Yui from a shoot at Fanime 2010 with Leonard, and I got those back a couple months ago but forgot to post them!  Also, new photos of Mytho from THIS Fanime, by the ever-talented Lionel, and Leonard.  I also added a couple of pictures from WCS, because I realized I didn't have ANY on my site.  One of these is another on-stage shot of my tear-away Raven!Mytho.

I still have a whole bunch of pictures from SakuraCon of Mytho, and Ciel, that I still need to get good copies of.  I hope to get those uploaded before the summer is over @_@  I HAVE however, also added photos of Ciel from the photoshoot we did with Leonard back at SakuraCon!

Summer is past it's half-way mark, and I'm hoping to get working on some new things soon!

Tumblr! 07/18/2011

Hey guys, just dropping in real quick to let everyone who doesn't somehow know me from some other venue like Twitter, or Facebook -- I now have a Tumblr! I just staretd up a couple of weeks ago. It is 100% dedicated to cosplay-related things, so reference pictures, cosplay memes, progress posts, the works!  If you want to follow my copslay antics, check it out!

Been back from FanimeCon for a couple of weeks now, and just finally found the energy to get this place updated.  As I'd hoped to do once I got a new picture I liked, I've changed the layout.  The new layout features a photo of my Mytho costumes, taken by Darkain at SakuraCon 2011!

New Costumes! - I've added FOUR new costumes to my cosplay page:  Ciel from Kuroshitsuji, Japan from Hetalia: Axis Powers, Dare  from Dance Central, and Haru from The Cat Returns -- I also added a bunch of new photos to Mytho's page.   I still have more photos I'd like to add to all of these, and currently there are NO photos of Haru, so I hope to get that fixed in the near future!

New Skit! - I'm really excited about this one, guys.  For the first time, Ninja of the Night participated in Fanime's Cosplay Spectacular!  Our skit based on Portal walked away with Best Dramatic Skit, as well as a LOT of internet fame!  This was also my first time as a Ninja, rather than a face character, but when you check it out, you'll see that there's a good reason for that -- this skit was practically BUILT on Ninja-Tricks.

Conventions -  I've updated my 'conventions' page to more accurately reflect my plans for the year.  Unfortunately, I'll no longer be able to attend AM2 in July, due to recent personal emergencies.  I have also removed YoumaCon from my pending list for the year, as I no longer plan to attend; financial strain has really got cosplay taking a back seat for the rest of the year.  That doesn't mean I won't have more cosplay antics to post about though, so keep an eye out!

Thanks so much for coming by, and if you haven't already, you should head over to NOTN's Facebook Page

SakuraCon 2011 is over, and I had a fantastic time!  It had it's up and down moments, but nothing completely earth-shattering or con-ruining.  For the first time since 2008, NOTN walked away from SakuraCon's cosplay contest with nothing in hand.  We didn't let it get us down though, especially with the number of people who came up to us afterward to tell us how much they enjoyed our performance, and how confused they were that we didn't place, either best in our category, or Best In Show.    I've added the skit to my Performances page, so you can go check it out and judge for yourself!  I'm extremely proud of my Ninjas, and all of our new friends, and how they pulled together for this performance.

SakuraCon was also the first time in a LONG WHILE, where I debuted an almost ENTIRELY NEW costume lineup.  I re-wore my Mytho costume for the first time since WCS in August, as well as debuted three new costumes: Ciel Phantomhive (Kuroshitsuji/Black Butler), Japan (Axis Powers Hetalia) and Dare (Dance Central)!  I'm still waiting on some photos to come back, and to get my copies off of Kayla's computer, so once I do, I will be sure to update and post all of those costumes!

After a week of recovery, I'm finally getting my head back in the game.  Time for house cleaning, and thenit's time to get amped up for FANIME!  Sadly, I wasn't able to get the Friday of the con off, so I have to fly in late Friday evening, and miss the first day.  I think I've figured out my costume lineup, but I will post more about that later!

More updates coming soon!

I'm back! 04/01/2011

Bet you all thought I'd left my site to rot again, didn't you?  Well, surprise!  I'm back, and hopefully with what I've got going now, I will be able to update my website more easily, and thus more often!  I discovered this lovely website builder called Weebly, and I absolutely fell in love with it.  I like designing, but my skills are out-dated, and I'm just too fickle when it comes to my layouts to use the old-fashioned method anymore.  Weebly's got an AWESOME gallery function, and the editing of the pages is so super easy!  Changing my layout is a breeze, too!  This one's just a temp... I plan on changing it again once I get some pictures at SakuraCon.

Speaking of Cons, I just got back from Anime Matsuri in Houston, TX. It was my first time to Texas, and while I felt a little out of place, and the venue was severely lacking, I got to meet and spend time with a lot of AMAZING people.  I barely cosplayed at all, but Rynn and I, along with our new friend Bill, got to judge the Masquerade.  It was a LOT more fun than I thought it was going to be, and I didn't mind being closed up in a room doing pre-judging all day.  : D  Originally, I'd been working on a new costume for the con, but I just ran out of time.  Hopefully, it will be done for SakuraCon, when I can actually get some good photos in it ^_^

UPDATES! All of my costume pages have been given a little bit of a face lift.  Finished write-ups on costumes that had almost nothing on them, and added several new pictures to a handful of galleries.  Updated my Links page, and have linked a LOT of friends.  If you want to do a Link Exchange, feel free to contact me!   I also added the skit that NOTN performed at AkiCon back in November -- not our brightest hour, but we still managed to walk away with first prize!

NEXT CON is SakuraCon in Seattle, WA! The girls and I are busy, working our butts off to prepare a new performance!  Sadly, this will be our last time competing at SakuraCon.  But we're not quitting!  We've just decided to expand our horizons and compete elsewhere.

If you like our stuff, you should check us out on Facebook and give us a 'like'!

Until next time!
