WHY I MADE IT
I had already cosplayed a ghetto-tastic version of Misa, and was surprised how much I loved it. When we decided to use Misa in our KumoriCon '08 skit, I got the urge to make a legitimate Misa costume. I had everything for this lying around except for the socks and the collar.
COSTUME CONSTRUCTION
The top for this was made from a dress pattern that I inherited from my mom YEARS ago -- it's made from a red Amaretto solid that was actually the remnants from a failed attempt at Edward Elric's coat. Originally it called for buttons up the front, but I substituted a zipper. The black straps were make separately front a black remnants I had, and attached silver buckles to the bottoms. They were then hand-stitched to the red shirt. The skirt is a spandex-y black skort that I've had left over from my dance days. The jewelry was hand-sculpted by myself, except for the choker which was bought at the costume store. The socks were purchased online and are made by Leg Avenue. The wig, of course, is the same wig from my first Misa costume (although it may need a replacement, the last time I wore it, it was a bit thin...)
