Born and raised in the Pacific Northwest, I've always been the Creative sort -- a performer and lover of make-believe. I took dance lessons from the time I was 3 until I was 16, and participated in lots of small community-center acting courses and school talent shows. I've been on a stage for as long as I can remember.  My Nana started teaching me how to sew when I was about 14, when we made my first Utena costume.  From there, I was largely self taught, occasionally seeking the guidance of her and my mom, who taught me everything I know about styling hair.  In 2007 I hooked up with the cosplay group Ninja of the Night and performed with them off and on through the beginning of 2015.  In 2010, my friend and cosplay partner Rynn and I, were selected as Team USA for the World Cosplay Summit in Nagoya, Japan.  Later, we went on to represent the USA at CICAF 2017 and Clara Cow's Cosplay Cup 2019!  Now that I've been going to conventions for over a decade, my preferred way to spend time there is being involved with the cosplay contest -- either as a competitor, or behind the judges table. In 2019 I took up the position as the Cosplay Coordinator at SakuraCon in Seattle, WA.  I also really enjoy every opportunity I have to help other cosplayers, and share my skills and experience in the form of Q+A Panels. If you'd like to know more about my experience, please check out my resume.

When I'm not working on cosplay, I tend to either lay on the couch watching Netflix or Hulu.  I occasionally sit down and read a book or play a video game, and when I do it tends to consume me for a few days to a few weeks.  I love to write, and hope to someday have something published, even if only self-published.  For now, I dabble in FanFiction.  I used to hoard fabric like a dragon hoards treasure, but I'm trying to curb the habit because I will drown in the stuff if I don't.  I spend way too much time on pinterest looking at craft projects and organization systems, and really love DIY and Renovation shows.  I dream of someday owning and living in a eco-friendly Container House, but for now I'm the happy home-owner of a townhouse condo that I am renovating to my tastes.  I am also an aspiring Minimalist and Zero-Waste-er and have been on the slow journey to reduce my belongings and cultivate my lifestyle for the last couple years.

I have dogs who live with my parents, and I am a gooey mess when it comes to how much I love them.  I refuse to even consider getting any pets at this point in my life, because I would feel like I'm cheating on them (and I just don't have the energy or time to devote to them).  I like cats well enough, but I am a dog-person by default thanks to my body deciding that I should be allergic to cats.

I have an insane love of musical theater and my favorite show is 'Wicked".  My favorite non-anime TV shows include Buffy the Vampire SlayerSteven Universe, Once Upon a Time and The Big Bang Theory -- Favorite movies include Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl, A Knight's Tale,  and Spirited Away .  I'm also a total Disney nerd and know way too much about that studio's history.  I'm a fountain of useless knowledge, like the fact that only female mosquitoes suck blood.  I love to travel when the opportunity presents itself and I've been to Hawaii, California, Washington, Oregon, Nevada, Illinois, Virginia, Washington DC, Maryland, New York, Florida, Texas, Colorado, Utah, Mexico, Japan, Germany, and China;  in the future, I'd like to visit Canada, Denmark, The Netherlands, Italy, Finland ... anywhere that my friends would be willing to show me around.  I never used to have the desire to travel, but the more friends I make around the world, the more I want to see of it.
