Puella Magi Madoka Magica: The Rebellion
I love Madoka Magica. When the 3rd Movie "Rebellion" was released, I made special plans to drive up to Seattle to see it with my friends. Although I wasn't a huge fan of the direction the movie went in, or Homura's fate, I can't argue that I found the design really interesting. It seemed like one of those designs that could be really flat if re-created literally... but if a few artistic liberties were taken, could be really cool looking. With several friends interested in making Madokami, and an idea for a solo performance... well, it was a no-brainer.

For the wig, I started with a silky Arda Venus in Black Pepper -- very little styling was involved, just trimming the bangs a smidge, and cutting in the shorter pieces in front.
The dress is a weird bunch of illusion work -- incorporationg techniques used on ice-skater dresses, the base is a beige nude mesh, with the odd bodice, gloves, and neck piece directly attached over the mesh. There are a separate pair of short gloves underneith the sleeves, to create the love-gloved look (a trick I learned while working on RoAnne). The base for all the black pieces is made from a stretch taffeta I got for really inexpensive on Fabric Wholesaler.com. This website is also where I got the materials
