Revolutionary Girl Utena
Kozue Kaoru

I don't know why, but I always seem to get this last-minute itch before cons, to make something new. I really wanted something easy to wear for Judging at KumoriCon, and since I already had a wig for Kozue, I picked up the supplies and set out cranking this out. There were several very late nights of work that went into this, and I couldn't have finished in time without the help of my room-mate, who whipped up the neck tie for me.

The wig was a cobalt blue Chronos from Epic Cosplay, and took a LOT of patience and work to get it styled into the way it looks now. I'm still really not happy with it, and would like to try a little more aggressive styling. The shirt was made of a white stretch poplin from JoAnn, and the collar and pleated skirt were made from a mint stretch denim that I have only seen at JoAnn the ONE TIME that I bought it. The stretch in the fabric made the skirt and collar a bit tricky to sew together, but it all worked out in the end. The blouse was patterned using a princess seamed dress pattern as a base, and the sleeves were the same as the pattern that Envel drafted for her fluffy yellow Utena gown in 2013. The sleeves are lined with a small sleeve, and stuffed with tulle to help keep their size/shape.
